  • Some uses our customers have recommended for Briarlane's jams and jellies:

    1. Wild Blueberry Jam
      Combine 1/4 cup sugar with the zest of 1 lemon, then put blueberry jam on top of muffin batter and sprinkle the sugar mix on top, bake and “Oh My”.
      Top Pancakes or Waffles with it.
      Put Blueberry jam in between cake layers.
      Add it to plain yogurt.
      Add some to your pancake or waffle batter.
      Mix with some of your favorite mustard and glaze pork or beef with it.
      Of course you could go for the classic peanut butter and jelly combination.
      Mix with yogurt or cottage cheese
      Warm it up and use as a dip for Potato Chips; salty blueberry goodness.

    2. Jalapeno Jelly
      The most often asked question; "Is it HOT". It is not HOT it is Spicy, the sugar takes most of the heat out but there is still that bite (spice) at the end that lets you know it is there.
      Put it on crackers with cream cheese and a little Jalapeno jelly Mmmm Mmmmm,
      On top of Brie when it comes out of the oven or just a few minutes before it comes out and it goes well on these cheeses also. such as Edam, mozzarella, goat cheese, or smoked cheddar.
      Believe it or not it goes well on Ice Cream, yes Ice Cream.
      Glaze: As a delicious glaze on meats such as lamb, pork chops, brisket, ribs, chicken, ham, almost any meat.
      Want a fast easy dip? Mix it with cream cheese and serve as a dip.
      When Grilling hamburgers brush it on and create a great flavorful hamburger / cheese burger.
      Seafood lovers should try it on fried oysters, gives it a little kick and makes it taste So GOOD.
      Use Jalapeno Jelly with cream cheese icing on a cake.
      Glaze for Lamb (try on fish and beef also): Just 3 tablespoons of Jalapeno Jelly mixed with a teaspoon of crushed sage and a teaspoon of olive oil. AMAZING!

    3. Apple Jelly
      The most common use for apple jelly is on toast, croissant, or buttermilk biscuits.
      Try spreading it on pancakes, French toast, or waffles.
      Bake apple jelly on a wheel of Brie or serve with goat cheese.
      Reduce the juices from pork or chicken and whisk in a few tablespoons of apple jelly for a sweet sauce.
      Thumb print cookies are another great use.
      Put it in Muffin batter and bake.
      Give iced tea a fruit flavor by stirring in 1 to 2 teaspoons apple jelly.
      Sweet and sour sauce, combine 1/2 cup of jelly, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 cup wine vinegar. Simmer 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
      Then there is the never leaves anything but a smile on your face Peanut butter and Apple Jelly sandwich.

    4. Tomato Jam
      Top a cheese burger or hamburger with it.
      Put it on a bagel w/ cream cheese.
      Use it in a grilled cheese sandwich.
      Put it on Meatloaf about 15 minutes before it is done.
      On Cheese and Crackers; cheddar works great.
      Serve it up on Bratwurst, Sausages, or Hot Dogs.
      Roasted chicken put it on before you take it out to develop a nice coat.
      Nice condiment to Pot Roast.
      Glaze pork with it.

    5. Ginger Pear Jam
      Serve with a cheese platter
      Add it to a Panini of Brie and jam
      Spread it on top of Brie a few minutes before taking it out of the oven.
      Add it to cake batter!
      Spread it on roasted chicken 10 – 15 minutes before it is done.
      Eat it with leftover turkey

    6. Sweet Orange Marmalade
      Spread plain, store-bought coffeecake with preserves. Slide under broiler until topping bubbles.
      Make a quick fruit relish, stir 1 cup grape jelly into 1/2 cup each of sweet orange marmalade and chopped walnuts. Serve with turkey or chicken.
      Put a jar of BriarLane Orange Marmalade in your Chocolate cake batter and mix it in well, makes a great Orange Chocolate Cake.
      Goes great on Toast or English muffins.
      Add some to your pancake batter.

    7. Strawberry Jam
      Glaze a Ham: Combine one jar of BriarLane Strawberry Jam, 2 oz of prepared mustard, 1 1/2 oz. of lemon juice, combine in a small sauce pan and heat, brush on ham for the last 20 minutes of baking.
      Put it on a bagel w/ cream cheese.
      Strawberry jam with fresh berries stirred in. Great over pancakes or waffles.
      Smear strawberry jam on bread, add some good ham (or turkey) and some Swiss or Muenster cheese, then griddle it like a grilled cheese sandwich. Your mouth will thank you.
      Make thumbprint cookies.
      Mix with yogurt or cottage cheese.
      Use it in between cake layers.
      Warm it up and top Ice Cream with it.
      Use it on Sponge cake.
      Top your English muffin or toast with Strawberry jam.
      Spread it on French toast or crepes.
      Top hot cereal with it.

    8. Raspberry Jam
      Mix with soft cream cheese, diced habaneros and drained pineapple tidbits. Put on top of your favorite cracker sprinkle with pecans pieces if you want.
      Top your English muffin or toast with Strawberry jam.
      Spread it on French toast or crepes.
      Top hot cereal with it.
      Make thumbprint cookies.
      Mix with yogurt or cottage cheese.
      Top Pancakes or Waffles with it warmed up.

    9. Apricot Jam
      Blend apricot jam, curry powder, currants or raisins. Brush on meat for the last three minutes of cooking.
      Mix with yogurt or cottage cheese.
      Top Pancakes or Waffles with it warmed up.
      Stir in 1/4 cup of apricot jam before serving cooked vegetables, like carrots or sweet potatoes.
      Great on Scones or English Muffins.

    10. Pineapple Jam
      Spread pineapple jam on squash halves, before baking.
      Mix with yogurt or cottage cheese.
      Create a skinny dressing for your favorite fruit salad. Stir together a half cup of low-fat sour cream and a quarter cup pineapple jam.
      Stir in 1/4 cup of pineapple jam before serving cooked vegetables, like carrots or sweet potatoes.
